We are happy to announce a change to Kudos, our internal rewards system. Previously, redeeming gift cards required accumulating 1000 points. We have now lowered this to just 750 points, making it easier for you and your colleagues to enjoy rewards (i.e., Canadian Tire, Amazon, a charity of your choice, etc.)
Don't forget that you can request gift cards from other vendors if you don’t see the store of your choice. If there's a particular store or brand you've been eyeing, you can suggest it for inclusion!
The program update is just one of the steps being taken in response to the results from our 2023 Engagement Survey. A number of employees expressed a desire for greater recognition visibility. Kudos allows you to publicly acknowledge and celebrate the hard work and creativity of your colleagues.
One further change is that gift cards for specific vendors are no longer a taxable benefit! This does not apply if you pick a cash-like option (Visa or MasterCard) as this remains a taxable benefit.
Let's all make an effort to celebrate successes and recognize innovative solutions to challenges in the workplace by making use of the Kudos program. It's easier than ever!

With the transmission line from Taltson continuing to be de-energized, the line crew from Fort Smith are taking advantage of the power being off by removing raptor nests that have a negative consequence should a forest fire burn in the immediate area. The nests easily catch fire and the heat generated melts the aluminum tower frame, causing catastrophic damage to the tower. We have already replaced two towers for this reason following the 2023 fire season.
All nest removal activities must cease by the end of February to comply with NWT legislation.
