Responsibilities

  • Human Resources (HR) provides human resources support to all NTPC departments and offices across the Corporation in the areas of recruitment and selection, benefits, business leadership and strategy, diversity, training, employee relations, ethics & corporate social responsibility, labour relations, organizational & employee development, HR technology, staffing management, payroll, safety & security, and employment legislation.

  • The HR Director attends and makes presentations before the Board of Directors or other departments to promote or clarify human resource issues, actions or initiatives.

  • HR provides direction and leadership in planning and executing talent acquisition, and develops and maintains a human resources program and strategy that enhances the goals and objectives of the corporation. HR staff promote employee engagement and work with supervisors and managers to resolve employee issues in a collaborative and responsive manner. The training program of NTPC is a fundamental component to the success of the employees, departments, and the corporation and supports corporate objectives.HR ensures compliance with federal and territorial acts and regulations to ensure the effective planning and delivery of programs and services to internal customers to achieve the corporate mandate.

Helping NTPC to achieve its mission

In order to succeed in its mission, NTPC requires skilled and dedicated employees throughout the NWT.  HR provides direction and support to managers and supervisors in an effort to enhance the corporation to achieve its mission through the recruitment, development and retention of skilled employees and the research and development of effective compensation that meet the needs of the Corporation.

Human resources are the most valuable asset of any corporation; thus, the role of HR is to provide a service in which talent, critical to the success of the organization, is acquired and retained.
