At last, our Outage Reporting Continuous Improvement project reaches the end... Though, this is when the work truly begins!

Our Project Team has identified the gaps and the opportunities for us to bridge them. Now, we work on the Action Plans to support NTPCers on this process.

NTPC issued a news release on October 11 announcing that it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Osisko Metals that outlines the process of negotiating power connection from Pine Point to the Taltson hydroelectric grid and power purchase agreements. 

This is great news as it begins to formalize the relationship between NTPC and Pine Point and may eventually lead to an agreement that would see the excess capacity from Taltson used by an industrial customer. As is made clear in our Strategic Plan, the addition of industrial/mining customers helps to reduce rate pressures for other customer classes. In addition, revenue from a new industrial customer on the Taltson system would help offset the cost of the upcoming refurbishment.

A strategic planning session involving senior leadership happened to coincide with Orange Shirt Day. Lots of great discussion about long-term goals and initiatives that will help us achieve the utlimate goals of our Strategic Plan. More information will be shared after we take a closer look at some the ideas that came forward to ensure we remain on the right track.

As is the case with utilities all across Canada, our world is changing -- new technologies, evolving customer expectations and hardening of systems against extreme weather conditions all need to be considered and incorporated into our business decisions. The status quo won'tget us to where we need to be.
