NTPC Receives Environmental Award of Excellence

I am pleased to announce that NTPC is the recipient of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists’ (NAPEG) Award for Environmental Excellence for the Colville Lake Hybrid Solar PV/Diesel with Battery Storage Project.

Congratulations to the entire Project Team from AME, T&D, Thermal Ops and IT, including particular recognition to Ian Flood as Project Manager and Gilles Ringuette as Design Electrical Technologist.  Thanks also to Alvin Orlias on-the-ground as Plant Superintendent and Chief (former).  Without the dedication and persistence of these individuals, this project would not be the NWT or national success that it has become!

Olympian Brendan Green Touring South Slave this week

Olympians Brendan Green and Rosanna Crawford will be touring schools in Hay River, Fort Resolution and possibly Fort Smith later this week.

NTPC is a proud sponsor of Brendan, who is from Hay River, and as part of his sponsorship, he and his Olympian girlfriend Rosanna visit schools in the NWT to promote sport, nutrition and dedication.

If you see them in your community, stop and say hi and tell them you for for NTPC -- they are always happy to say hi!

Generator Bike - Public Demonstration / Educational Tool
A fun new tool for engaging the public in discussions about energy use, electricity generation, and conservation arrived in Hay River this month. It's a stationary bicycle equipped with an electrical generator and USB charging outlets. The USB outlets can be used to charge cell phones, or to power small devices such as speakers or a small fan. Staff at the Hay River office tried it out on Monday afternoon this week, and responses so far have been enthusiastic. The bike is booked for appearances at Trade Shows in Fort Smith and Yellowknife over the next few weeks. If there is an event coming up in your community which would be a good opportunity to use this activity as part of a display, contact Pam Coulter to learn more about it.
