Emanuel, left, and the Honorable Caroline Cochrane, Public Works and Services Minister, right, hold the ribbon for Lutselk'e Chief, Felix Lockhart, to cut the ribbon to open the community's solar PV array.  NTPC has a power purchase agreement with the community to buy the power that the solar array generates. This is the first community owned independent power producer in the Territory.

Congratulations, to Ian Flood for cycling from YK to Hay River in this weekend's YK2HR Cycle Ride. Ian cycled 493 kilometres, along with 49 others through rain and sunshine to land in Hay River at 4:30 p.m. Sunday. This annual event was organised by the Multisports Club of YK and is a 3-day ride with 2 nights camping:  Day 1: 181km; Day 2: 181km; Day 3: 130 km.  Ben Smith and Geraldine Byrne also took part in the event. Congratulations to Ian, Ben and Geraldine! Ian appreciated the much needed encouragement he received around Chan Lake from Dave Duncan, Emanuel and Myra Berrub...who were passing by on their way back to Hay River.

It was a sunny day in Colville Lake yesterday as the Premier, our Minister and an NTPC crew opened the new power plant in the community -- it made it easier to take dignitaries, staff and media on tours as it was quiet with no diesel engines running the whole time we were there. After speeches by the Chief, Premier, Minister and Emanuel about half the community joined us for caribou stew and bannock at the community hall after the ribbon cutting.

Thanks to Alvin and Bernard for having the site and plant in tip-top shape for our visit!!  And to Alvin and Gilles for giving tours of the new plant and explaining how it all works to our guests. And thanks to Boyd for doing the safety training!

And finally, a big thank you to the community of Colville Lake for being dedicated and committed to this project.
