Thank you to all the employees and family members (including the furry kind) who participated in the Hay River Canada Day Parade. Lots of smiles and cheers as the NTPC truck made its way along the parade route. Lectro was in fine form, helping to energize the crowd.

A special thank you as well to those who stepped up to help decorate the truck -- our involvement in events across the NWT helps to demonstrate that we are part of the community and builds support.

Four Continuous Improvement pilot projects continue to progress thanks to the ongoing work of employees from all divisions and levels of the Corporation. The four projects are:

• Capital Project Stage Gating Process (examining an approach to more effectively select, plan, and execute Capital Projects)
• Hoshin Planning (providing a foundation that helps the Senior Leadership to plan, execute, and track activities that support the business plan, starting with the Finance Division)
• Corporate Lifecycle Planning (ensuring alignment and sequencing of activities and planning sessions to support effective decision making and improved performance management)
• Contract & Procurement Management (examining and improving processes related to contracts and procurement of services)

The Capital Project Stage Gating project team was successful in completing the current state of process using a methodology that brings focus to process analysis.  The experience and conversations were enlightening and brought out opportunities for future improvements.

The cross-divisional collaboration provides a strong indication that people are enthusiastic about the pilot projects and see the potential it holds to save time and money. Let’s keep the momentum going! 

The Canadian Electricity Association’s (CEA) Board of Directors, which includes our own Jay Grewal, met last week in Whitehorse, Yukon. This was the first time a CEA Board meeting had been held in the North in the association's 127 year history.

Following the meeting, the Board issued a statement on the importance of investing in electricity infrastructure in Canada’s North. Read the full statement here. 

Hello! Effective September 1st the Kudos Program is changing. 1000 points is and will continue to be equal to $25. If you have over 1000 points and want to redeem for the higher gift card amounts please do this prior to September 1st!  Points will not be erased but the $50 and $75 options will no longer be available.

Over the past two weeks, NTPC linemen have been at the Jackfish site to participate in training on bucket rescue, pole top rescue and tower rescue. Effective training helps everyone stay safe on the job.
