Our Daily Meeting form has also had a spring makeover - it now includes a section to document a safety moment and any other discussion around safety. Thank you to our field staff who suggested this improvement (you know you who are)! Daily Meetings are conducted to coordinate the activities of several work groups at one plant site prior to any work beginning.

Hay River employees were among those who have made donations to help Jean Marie River residents who have been displaced by flooding. These residents as well as people in Fort Simpson have suffered a significant loss of possessions and will require ongoing support to get back on their feet. NTPC suggests that those who wish to contribute can do so through the United Way. The GNWT will match donations to the United Way NWT up to $150,000 for flood relief efforts.

The NTPC line crew currently working in Fort Simpson have set up temporary living accommodations in a space normally used as a line shop and for parking vehicles.

Our Incident Report form has had a spring makeover - it now includes a few prompts to help improve the incident description: What happened? Why/how did it happen? Who was involved? The more detail included in the report, the better we can respond to it.
Reporting accidents and near misses enables us to identify hazards and unsafe events in our workplaces. We can then investigate to determine the causes, and then put sustainable corrective actions in place to prevent recurrence.
Remember, incidents must be reported as soon as possible to your manager and HSE, and the Incident Report Form must be submitted within 24 hours of the event.

NTPC's Yellowknife Line Crew conducts exercises and participates in training so they are ready for any situation. Earlier this week, time was committed to practicing Pole Top and Bucket Rescue skills.
This is a yearly recertification requirement for powerline technicians. In normal times, it is led by an outside contractor and includes additional training. Given the COVID situation, NTPC has taken the training in house, showing our commitment to maintaining skill levels.
