Responsibilities

  • The  Projects and Engineering Division completes capital projects required by the Hydro, Thermal and T&D Operations departments to improve safety, reliability, efficiency and cost-effectiveness. This encompasses all disciplines – electrical, mechanical, civil, and control/instrumentation. Projects and Engineering plans capital projects, completes the detail design as required, tenders the work and then monitors the construction through to final commissioning.

  • The Division also provides technical support and advice to Operations in all aspects of power generation.

  • The Division is staffed mostly by technical staff qualified to degree or technologist levels.

Helping NTPC to achieve its mission

  • The Projects and Engineering Division is the backbone of ensuring efficient and sustainable power now and in the future.  It completes capital projects required to replace older units with more reliable and efficient generators. This in turn helps to maintain the high levels of reliability and improve fuel efficiency.

  • The team ensures quality of power to the customers is maintained by installing appropriate equipment to meet their needs.

  • Collaborates when issues do arise in analyzing the root cause and recommending corrective measures, ensuring safe and reliable power.

Assets

The Projects and Engineering Division supports projects related to all hydro, diesel, natural gas, liquefied natural gas (LNG), wind and photo voltaic (PV) generating assets. This includes power plants in all NWT communities.
