We are excited to announce that we can now pay your expenses electronically directly into your bank account. No muss, no fuss.. you submit your expenses to the company and shortly after it is approved you will get an email saying that the money is on its way!

What is EFT?

Electronic Funds Transfer, or EFT, is an electronic way to send money directly from one bank account to another. In this case it will the Power Corp’s bank account directly to yours. It is how you currently get your paycheque. Sometimes it's called direct deposit and it is easy on the environment as it eliminates paper cheques.

What are the benefits?

EFT benefits you by reducing the time your reimbursement takes to get to you and the chances that it will get lost or stolen on the way, and the time it takes for you to deposit it and the hassle it creates.

EFT benefits the Corporation by eliminating the cost to produce and handle a cheque while reducing the risk that it will get stolen and altered or lost along the way.  It is a win-win situation.

It is a great improvement in the service we provide you!

No more waiting for a cheque, then heading off to the bank, waiting in line to deposit a cheque only to have a teller tell you that they will have to hold your money for three days for the cheque to clear. It is here, now, live!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Did you know that 33% of Canadian households cook turkey for Thanksgiving dinner – that’s almost 5,000 turkeys in the Northwest Territories!

NWT households will need 22,500 kWh of electricity to cook their Thanksgiving turkeys; slightly more than one month of summer production from the Ft. Simpson solar array.

The electricity to cook a turkey dinner with all the trimmings will cost about $1.35 at the TPSP rate.

Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving!

On September 27 & 28, directors and managers representing all Divisions came together in Hay River to participate in Strategic Planning for the 2017/18 year.

Your Directors and Managers will be sharing more information about the session, and its outcomes, with you in the coming weeks.

NTPC employees participated in a tulip planting event organized by the Town of Hay River at lunch time on October 5. The red and white flowers are part of Hay River's preparations for Canada's 150th birthday celebration in 2017. Thanks to everyone who participated, and to Cheryl McMeekin for coordinating our team!

From Parks Canada:

Pingo Canadian Landmark protects a unique arctic landform: ice-cored hills called pingos. Rising out of the flat tundra, these hills provide a distinctive backdrop to the community of Tuktoyaktuk, Northwest Territories. Pingo Canadian Landmark features eight of the 1350 pingos found in the region including Ibyuk Pingo, Canada's highest. Reaching 49 metres (160 feet) in height and stretching 300 metres (984 feet) across its base, Ibyuk is also the world's second-tallest pingo.

For centuries, pingos have acted as navigational aides for Inuvialuit travelling by land and water and as a convenient height of land for spotting caribou on the tundra or whales offshore.

Have a picture of your community?  Please send it along -- not all employees get to travel and many would like to see what your community looks like and has to offer.

Thanks, Mitchell!
