On December 4, Cory and Belinda travelled to Fort Smith with Minister Caroline Wawzonek, her Ministerial Special Advisor Drew Robertson, Andrew Stewart and Benjamin Israel from INF to meet with the Thebacha Leadership Council and MLA Jay Macdonald. They had an opportunity to present the council and MLA Macdonald with an update on the status of the Taltson Overhaul, how we are maintaining reliability in Fort Smith with diesel generation, plans for the Substation and Distribution upgrades as well as an update on the plans for the Taltson Expansion project.

There was s bit of time left before the team to return to Yellowknife and Minister Wawzonek and her team were able to tour the Fort Smith plant and meet the operations generation crew as well as see the assets we discussed in the meeting.

Thank you to Fort Smith staff for being very welcoming to our visitors.

Delivery of Packages to Forth Smith

Clem Longpre and Russell Brown helped Cory unload his delivery vehicle.

On December 4, Cory travelled by road from Hay River to Fort Smith to speak with the Thebacha Leadership Council. Minister Caroline Wawzonek and GNWT officials also attended as part of a joint presentation.

Given the ongoing Canada Post strike, it has been a challenge to get deliveries to communities like Fort Smith. Recognizing an opportunity to move packages from the Hay River warehouse, our logistics wizard Vern filled the back of the NTPC vehicle Cory was using with items that needed to get to Fort Smith. This resulted in a saving of both time and money.

Great job Vern and fine work by our new delivery person Cory Strang.

Last month, Kristopher Robert was presented with his Powerline technician certificates at a job fair in Inuvik. The certificates were presented by Debra English, GNWT Regional Manager (on the left) and Savannah Arey, GNWT Career Development Officer (in the middle).

Kristopher started working with NTPC in March 2019, apprenticing for the Line Trade.  With lots of hard work and ambition, he completed his last year at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology -- not only did he pass, he earned his RED SEAL Certificate in this trade in February 2024.  This secured his permanent position in Inuvik, as our newest PLT!

Congratulations Kristopher!
