Courageous 2017 is a workplace safety program for students.
NTPC directors and managers have been championing the program in the NWT and here is Todd Roche's experience at the high school in Fort Simpson:
Just a quick brief on my school visit yesterday to speak to the high school Grade 12’s and present the Courageous 2017 initiative.
First of all the whole high school and staff attended. Like 100 or more individuals. Not the expected 15 or 20. This just made it better actually!
I spoke about why I was there and introduced the courageous 2017 initiative. We watched the video and it was very well received.
I also spoke about the NTPC and put in a plug for our excellent safety program. And explained that we are not just mechanics, linemen, electricians: We are professional Managers & Administrators; I.T. Professionals; Human Resource Professionals; Finance and Accounting Professionals; Safety Professionals; Technicians, Engineers and more.
I discussed our web site and what we do as a company. After I briefly spoke about the video and said I would wait around or anyone who wanted to discuss the video, safety or the power corp.
I had 30 pizzas and 150 juice boxes delivered for after the presentation and ended up staying for 2 hrs. longer answering questions about the video, safety and careers on the power corp.
Many were actually engaged in the whole presentation. The principal shook my hand as I left and said it was a wonderful. He had never seen the kids so involved.
Well done, Todd!
