On Monday, May 28, the Public Utilities Board released its final decision on NTPC’s 2016/19 General Rate Application. The application was submitted in June 2016 so it has taken two long years to come to a conclusion.
We should all extend a huge thank you to all those employees who have worked so diligently over the past two years preparing our submissions, responding to requests for information from the Board and other stakeholders and generally ensuring that we told our story well. Great work!
Among the highlights of the decision:
-
Final rates for 2018-19 were approved, effective June 1, 2018 – this is the final year of a three year graduated rate increase process
-
Average rate increase is 2% and the bill impact ranges from 1% to 3%
-
5 GWh of diesel generation in base rates for the Snare rate zone was approved
-
Table below shows the bill impact for non-government residential customers who use 1000 kWh in the winter months.
