"What exactly is Outage Reporting?" ...You may find yourself asking if you aren't involved in this process. Well, look no further as we have the answer right here for all you lovely people. Firstly, outages can occur in various areas in our power systems; at generation, transmission or distribution. When these outages occur, we use the Reporting mechanism to help organize the information of the outage in a way that allows us to accurately report on it (as is our duty as a Public Utility) and, more importantly, to fix the problem(s)! So, what does this matter? Well, see below:
A Project Team has been assembled, which currently includes resources from Operations and IT, to try and make Outage Reporting better! And by "better", we mean we want to :
(1) Make a process that works for those who need to report on them - Let's make it easy,
(2) A system which supports those who need to review outages - Let's lose the frustration, and
(3) Ensures reporting leads to our teams having the tools to make important decisions - Let's empower ourselves!
We have a bit to go, but we are well on our way. Check out this nifty diagram to demonstrate what has been done so far.
