As written in the NTPC Safety Policy, our overall safety objective is to have zero high risk incidents. High risk incidents are those that can have the most serious consequences on people, property, and the environment. In a business where we deal daily with high risk hazards, it is crucial that hazard assessment and control is done very well - the first priority, day in and day out.
But if a high risk incident, or even a medium risk incident, happens it is best practice across many industries to hold a Safety Stand-Down. Stop work, gather everyone around, and talk about what happened.
It's an opportunity to:

Show your commitment to safety;

Understand what happened and why;

Ensure the workplace is safe before workers return to work; and
-
Communicate safety expectations going forward.
