Develop a Future State Process and Identify Solutions

Welcome everyone to the fourth stop of your DMAIC journey, the Improve Phase. Now that we have the Current State and Gap Analysis completed it is time for us to get improving! Here we will brainstorm what the solutions are for the opportunities identified in the Gap Analysis. We will take these solutions and pilot them and validate that they will work. Welcome to the fun part; let's get going!

Get solutioning

Using the Gap Analysis we are now able to see what opportunities we have to improve upon. It is time to ensure that each gap/opportunity has a possible solution:

1. Review the Gap Analysis and ensure each gap has at least one solution

Time to get our Future State together

You now will have all the tools to create what the Future State of the process will look like. The boundaries of this activity are what you set. This is your utopia. What makes you and everyone in the process happy?:

1. Schedule a time where the project team can sit together and perform the exercise, and
   --> This can take between half a day to two days. The CI Team will help you figure out what is suitable
2. Perform the exercise where the Future State is created.

Validate the Future State

Now that you know what your team has created for the best Future State of the process you need to make sure all those involved think so too!

1. Review the Future State with all resources who are involved in the process and ensure their concerns and suggestions are integrated, and
2. Validate with project team and sponsor.
